Chapter 1
Frankie padded across the floor, nails clicking his arrival at his favorite napping chair. It was shaping up to be a pretty good day. Sun shining, just the right chilly nip in the air, good day to nap in chair with sun streaming through the window.
Before settling in for a long winter's day’s nap, he decided he better check on dad. After all he was in charge of making sure dad was OK while mom was off doing whatever mom was off doing today. Frankie knew he was special, and being special, he had a duty to look after those he loved.

Leaving his sunshine perch, he leapt like a superhero on a mission. He needed to locate dad. After a quick glance into each room as he darted down the hall, he found him in the laundry room leaning against the washer, like he was trying to keep it from falling. Frankie's radar kicked in, were there trolls afoot? He could tell dad was in the painful grip of the hurts. He slowly moved towards dad, so as not to startle his balance, and sat, gently lifting his paw to tap at dad's shin.
"Hey boy, what you up to?" As Frankie looked up into his eyes, he knew the sneaky sneak trolls had snuck in while mom was out, and Frankie was busy making lazy day plans. He should have been more aware, knowing the pain trolls were always looking for an opportunity. They were gone now; must have heard him coming, but their damage had been done.

Frankie tapped dad's shin again, and gave his best very sad, soulful eye look. Frankie did his military precision turn, slowing marching, begging dad with compelling looks back to follow, and dad did. Pushing painfully off the washing machine and righting his balance, he kept in time with Frankie's slow march down the hall.
Frankie knew he needed to get dad to his chair, which by luck was next to his own. Dad needed to rest and let Frankie make it better. As dad gingerly sat down with a sigh, Frankie stood upright and gently licked his hands. As Frankie gently licked, he heard a faint little snore, and giving his rolly tongue smile, he turned towards his own chair. Yes, let dad rest, and Frankie would keep watch; after all it was his job. Leaping, as if by magic into his chair, he circled and mushed the cushion, might as well be comfortable while on duty. He lay down with his head on his paws facing dad, and proceeded with his watch.

The sun was so warm and his eyes were getting heavy. Frankie shook his head, stood up, circled a few times, and a few times more and plopped down. Again to resume watch, with head on paws, making sure no sneaky sneak trolls could sneak in to get to his dad. No, he, Frankie was going to be more watchful this time, saying between yawns, "No sneaky sneak trolls goinggg tooooo gettttttttt daddddddddddddd, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
